General

You can register for VetCareID by clicking here.

VetCareID has two pricing options so you can choose which works best for you: $5/monthly or $25 annually. Both plans include the same exact benefits.

VetCareID has a variety of different purposes, many of which you might find useful as a pet guardian. Some of the top reasons for registering with VetCareID include:

  • Easy proof of vaccinations
  • 24/7 access to vet records in emergency situations
  • The ability for groomers, vets, animal hospitals, landlords, etc. to access medical records
  • A handy, digital medical record for your pet

Absolutely. We want you to have your pet's complete medical history so, during pet registration, there is an option to have us contact any previous vets to gather historical medical records. These will all be added to your VetCareID and you will be notified if there are any issues along the way.

Yes. Even though we make it so providers can easiy access your pet's medical history, they can only access this information if they have your pet's unique VCID and password. This makes it so the information is only accessible when you grant permission for it to be viewed.

VetCareID is $5/monthly or $25 annually per pet. You choose the number of pets to register when you sign up (you can always add or remove pets later!). So, 2 pets will be $10/month or $50/year, 3 pets $15/month or $150/year, and so on.

Account

VCID stands for VetCare Identification #. This is a unique number assigned to each registered pet with VetCareID. Your VCID is used by providers, along with your assigned password, to access your pet's medical records.

When you register your pet with VetCareID, they will be assigned 3 things; a unique email address, a VCID, and a password.

The email address is used by care providers to send new medical records directly to your pet's VetCareID profile page.

The VCID and password are used by care providers to access and verify medical records on your pet's VetCareID profile page.

You should guard your VetCareID the same way you would guard a debit or credit card. You only want to share your VetCareID with a provider you trust – or anyone you trust viewing your pet's medical history. Since your VetCareID has your pet's VCID and password on it, anyone who has your VetCareID can access your pet's medical records.

New records are added to your pet's VetCareID profile page anytime a licensed veterinarian sends records to your pet's unique email address and it has been verified by VetCareID.

To have a licensed veterinarian send information to your pet's VetCareID profile page, you can simply hand them your VetCareID physical card so they can follow the instructions on the card, or you can verbally provide your pet's unique email address and have them send the files there.

No. At this time, even if the services performed are the same (i.e. you have two dogs and they both received the same vaccinations), the vet must send Pet #1 files to Pet #1's unique email address and then in a separate email, send Pet #2 files to Pet #2's unique email address.

Troubleshooting

For the safety and security of our users and pets, most information found on your VetCareID physical card cannot be changed. If you need to update your pet's microchip number or want to discuss a potential change, please contact us.

Sure! You can request a new physical VetCareID by choosing the “Request new VetCareID care” on your account dashboard. If you have multiple pets register, make sure to choose the link to the left of the pet you are needing a new card for. A $5 fee applies when you request a new card.

If you cancel your VetCareID subscription, please be aware that your pet will no longer be protected with VetCareID's record accessibility database. This means emergency vets and other care providers will no longer be able to access your pet's medical information.

If you still wish to proceed, you will receive an email containing your pet's full medical records upon cancellation in PDF format. Any emails sent to your pet's VetCareID after cancellation will be automatically rejected.

You can cancel your VetCareID subscription by signing into your VetCareID account and choosing the “Cancel Subscription” option to the right of your pet's assigned email address.

If you see this message on your pet's dashboard, it could mean one of the following:

  • This document has yet to be reviewed by VetCareID
  • This document was sent to your pet's profile, but did not contain vet records
  • This document was a duplicate of something already on your pet's profile
  • This document was rejected by our team and is not displayed on your pet's VetCareID.

If you believe you are seeing this message in error, please contact us.

When vet records are sent to VetCareID, they first go through our review process. This helps us verify they camefrom a licensed veterinarian, ensure vaccination records are properly displayed for vet care facilities, and other various measures.

If there is an issue during this process, a document will be rejected. You can still view any rejected documents from your account dashboard. If you believe a document was rejected in error, please contact us.
